Air Bag Light (SRS)

Air bags are an extremely important safety feature.  If your vehicle is equipped with air bags you will see a light in your dash for SRS (Air Bag Light).  Supplementary Restraint System, (SRS) is the acronym used and the key word here is supplementary. If you see any warning lights come on, remember Express Auto/RV Care Center can diagnose and repair the issue for you!

SRS means it is in addition to your safety system, and your safety system is your seat belt.  If you aren’t wearing your seat belt and you are involved in an accident that deploys the airbags, there is a substantially greater risk that bodily injury will occur.  For that reason, you should ALWAYS wear your seat belt.

If the SRS light is illuminated, there is a problem in the system and the airbags won’t deploy if an accident occurs.  As you can imagine, this can be very serious.  If your SRS light comes on, you should get your car to Express Auto/RV Care Center as soon as possible.

You will notice the SRS light is yellow colored.  Yellow warning lights typically mean that you can continue driving your car without causing any immediate or further damage to the vehicle.  However, don’t forget that this very important safety system won’t be protecting you or your loved ones so this is definitely one item you should not ignore for long.

As always, Express Auto/RV Care Center is your one stop shop for all your automotive needs!
